The majority of demolition has been completed and owners are moving forward on this project, which is scheduled for completion this spring. The historic front wall and the first 10 feet of the side wall on Wall Avenue will remain, keeping the historic character of the building. During the demolition many of the original and structural masonry bricks were saved and will be included in the decorative design on the exterior of the building.
The property is for lease and the search for the right tenant is underway. Leasing agent Daniel Odle of Sperry Van Ness/R.M. Moore, LLC, says they are talking with local restaurateurs as well as others throughout the United States to bring something very special to Market Square and Downtown Knoxville. The demolition contractor has started removal of the deteriorating front facade of this building. This work should take about two weeks. The general contractor, Christopoulos and Kennedy will then begin the reconstruction of the new facade structure, which should take approximately three months to complete. The new front will be replaced back to match the existing historic facade and the new wood and glass storefront will be installed to meet the U.S. Department of Interior guidelines and comments.
Any tenant interested in leasing the ground floor should call Josh Mills at 865-525-0023 for more information.
